“ This cosy, artistic café has a simple yet beautiful ambience that feels both welcoming and thoughtfully designed. The service was warm and friendly One moment that stood out was when I planned to try their coffee on a friend’s recommendation. Instead of just making the sale, the staff thoughtfully explained that they had recently changed their coffee beans and I might not enjoy it as expected. That level of honesty and care is rare and genuinely appreciated, especially when it was full house. Now, onto the food—perfection in every bite. The portobello mushroom fries was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. While a touch more seasoning could elevate it, it was still thoroughly enjoyable. The Alfredo pasta was creamy and flavorful, and they nailed my request for extra spice—exactly the way I like it. The highlight, though, was the tiramisu—an absolute must-try with its rich, balanced flavors. Overall, Habitat Cafe offers amazing food at a very reasonable price point. A solid 9/10 from me—definitely a spot worth visiting if you’re in Johor Bahru. ”
“ Highly recommended! Nice foods and services! We had Fish n Chips & Beef Satay, very delicious and we will come again! ”
“ The menu has changed many times since first open years ago. I would say now the menu has matured to the right taste buds of mine. Below is a very nice donut dessert. Must try! ”
“ Delicious food and friendly staffs. * The durian curry fish taste delicious. The fish was silky smooth. The chilli paste blends perfectly with the curry. One of the best in jb. * fish n chip was nice. * cafe latte was good. ”
“ The staff recommended fish and chips: catfish (patin) was not fishy/muddy tasting; batter was lightly seasoned and airily crisp, & definitely does not have reused oil taste like some other places! I also enjoyed boysenberry doughnut with vanilla ice cream (some may find it too sweet but i like my desserts) and the mushroom soup served in a cup, with 1 slice of foccacia My friend's young son had the steak ciabatta sandwich and he polished the plate clean because of good quality steak cooked to the perfect done-ness. ”
“ Had dinner at Habitat Bistrot with my wife for her birthday on 08/09/2025, and it was such a wonderful experience! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We spotted fried calamari on the menu and were initially hesitant to order it because of too many bad experiences elsewhere in JB. I asked Ryan if it was fresh, and he assured us it was—saying they get it daily from the “pasar,” even joking that the only thing frozen in their kitchen is the fries. That immediately gave us confidence, and he was right—the calamari was fresh and delicious. We also had the fish & chips and aglio olio, both of which stood out compared to what we’ve had before. The tartar sauce was really unique and paired perfectly with the fish. The food here feels thoughtfully prepared and of great quality. While their western food shines, they also have a few Asian dishes on the menu, which makes it versatile for everyone. A special mention to Ryan for his exceptional service—polite, friendly, and always ready to explain the dishes with a smile. He truly made the dinner even more enjoyable. Overall, I’d give it 5/5. This place has become our go-to spot for good western food in JB, and we’ll definitely keep coming back. ”
“ Had dinner here 2 Sats in a row. Well executed good quality food. A real gem. First Sat: the pastas had a nice light cheese grated on which is not over-powering at all. The restaurant tells me it is grana padano cheese. 2nd Sat: The batter for the calamari and fish (and chips) is delightfully airy and light. The board outside claims the best fish and chips in jb? I'd say it's a legit claim - the batter stands out even among the "fish n chups" I've had in the western countries. ”
“ Came here on a late Sunday afternoon, the atmosphere was really nice and was not too crowded. Lots of parking available. Tried the "best fish and chips in JB" and it did not disappoint. Also tried the calamari and cajun chicken and they were quite appetizing as well. For desserts, the Guinness cake was not too sweet and had tasty notes of rum in the cream. The food was really great and delicious, price point was quite value for the quality of food that you are paying for. The staff was also very friendly and noticed my camera so we got to chat for a while and found out that he was also a photography enthusiast. ”
